L.Taylor Ashton

 

Biography

 

L. Taylor Ashton - Beil, a dance maker and native of Cleveland, Ohio graduated with honors from Kent State University with a BFA in Dance Performance in 2017. Ashton received her MFA in dance from Hollins University in conjunction with the Master of Contemporary Dance Education program at Frankfurt University for Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt, Germany. Ashton’s current work in process, ataba is a multi-medium performance art piece that is anchored in the migration and displacement of Syrian refugees, drawing on her Syrian heritage and family migration story.

Ashton Joins her alma mater, Kent State University as Part Time faculty where she will engage with dance majors and minors teaching Jazz Styles I & Dance and Technology.

2019

Ashton returns to Hollins University for weeklong teaching residency Nov. 2 - 10

2018

Ashton will return to Kent State University (her alma mater) to set two new works that will premiere in the spring of 2018. She will be setting work on the university’s pre-professional dance company (The Kent Dance Ensemble) and on the 2018 graduating BFA senior dance majors.
